AAAAAAAHAHAHHAHAHA.
Laravel is a nice, easy to use yet feature rich framework (only phalcon is better in my experience :) ) but about converting it better ask Taylor Ottwell first :) However there are a few major php library i'd really love to see rewritten as C extension: SwiftMailer, PHPExcel to name a few.
Just did some benchmarks on laravel 4 WITH zend opcache enabled... still awful. They really should rewrite it.
