Downloaded sample project - Cant get it started

I downloaded this project to see how phql and json conversion works:

I am putting the project into my xampp htdocs folder (like any other phalcon project) but no matter which path I open - the browser tells me the page does not exist. What am I doing wrong here?

Nevermind - I fixed it by deleting this: "RewriteBase /public/" out of the .htaccess
