I came across https://koding.com which looks interesting.
It is pretty much an all in development environment based on Ubuntu 14.04 and accessible by browser.
I've had a few minutes on it and manged to instal mongodb into the environment using 'kpm install mongodb' which quickly and politely installed.
I think I may have a new toy for the library.
